日本のマンガ・アニメ

【目標】
本演習では、日本のマンガ・アニメを、その表現方法をめぐる批評的言説に着目して検討する。
【授業内容】
現代の日本マンガ・アニメは非常に多様な広がりを見せており、論じることが難しくなったと言われている。そこで、現代の日本で行われているマンガ論の中から代表的な文献を講読しながら、下記の2点について考察していく。
(1) 夏目房之介による「マンガ表現論」の検討
(2) 1990年代以降のマンガ・アニメ表現をめぐる言説の検討
【評価方法】
授業参加：50％、期末レポート：50％

Programme: Seminar on Japanese Modern Culture

Objective: This seminar examines how Japanese comics (Manga) and animation films (Anime) have been described in critical discourses, concentrating on the way of drawing and depiction.
Description: It is often said that we find it difficult to argue about modern Japanese comics and animations, for they have become really diverse and various. We will thus read and discuss about several articles concerning about the following two topics, which are in current issue among Japanese critics.
(1) 'On the methods of expression in Japanese Comics' by Fusanosuke Natsume.
(2) Discourses on the Japanese comics and animations after 1990's.

Class Hour: Monday; 10:50-12:20
Assessment: Class Participation: 50%, Essay: 50%
